What are pigment spots?

All types of changing coloration of the skin and mucous membranes are summarized as pigmentary disorders. The most common type of pigment spots are sun or age spots.

The pigment melanin is responsible for the color of the skin. Skin pigmentation occurs when your skin produces more melanin than normal. The affected area appears darker, resulting in uneven pigmentation.

What causes pigment spots?

Dark spots can have a variety of causes and different manifestations.

The best known trigger for melanin production and resulting pigment spots is the sun.

However, hormonal fluctuations, skin type and color, and one's genetics also contribute to causes of skin discoloration.

Treating pigmentation disorders with protective skin care

Environmental influences, such as fine dust, soot or exhaust fumes, contribute to skin aging through free radicals in the body.

To protect the skin from these environmental influences, the primary focus of skin care is to provide antioxidants that help the skin create its hydro-lipid mantle. Cosmetic products called anti-aging or anti-pigment counteract premature aging of the skin.

Our specially developed active ingredient against pigment spots also ensures an even complexion and makes skin discolorations visibly disappear.
